The Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists and the College of Podiatry have announced that Steve Jamieson is to be its new Chief Executive Officer, taking over in September 2017 from interim CEO Rosemary Gillespie who has been in post since June 2016.

Steve Jamieson is currently Chief Executive Officer at The Hospice of St Francis in Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire where he has led the organisation for two-and-half years, including through a significant organisational development programme resulting in the hospice receiving an outstanding rating from the Care Quality Commission. Prior to this Steve was Director of Nursing at the Royal College of Nursing (RCN) and responsible for leading on the RCN's professional nursing agenda.

Society and College of Podiatry Chair of Council, Debbie Delves, said: ‘I’m delighted that Steve will be joining the Society and College of Podiatry as our new Chief Executive. Steve is an experienced CEO and a successful health leader with a proven track record in leadership at regional and UK level. He has been instrumental in guiding his current organisation successfully through a period of change and development.

‘The Society and College of Podiatry is an ambitious organisation with an inspiring vision for the future of podiatry in the UK and we are determined to raise the profile of podiatry, increase the influence of our organisation and ensure that podiatrists can play a key role as stakeholders in public health. We believe that Steve has the track record and skills to help us deliver our ambitious new strategy and make this vision a reality.

‘As well as his leadership of The Hospice of St Francis, his experience as Director of Nursing at the Royal College of Nursing (RCN) will be crucial as we work to ensure that, more than ever before, the Society and College is able to represent podiatry and podiatrists by promoting excellence in practice and helping influence and shape health policy across the UK.’

Steve Jamieson commented: ‘I am absolutely delighted to be appointed as Chief Executive of the Society and College of Podiatry, and I look forward to joining this ambitious organisation and working with Council, the staff team and members to help drive the organisation forward and ensure it delivers its ambitious strategy and in doing so delivers better outcomes for patients and acts as a champion for podiatry and for members.’
