Call for Papers 2018

Presenting your work at the College of Podiatry Annual Conference is an excellent opportunity to showcase new research and innovations, stimulate debate and improve career prospects. It can also count as CPD activity recognised by the HCPC in their biannual audit.

Categories for oral or poster presentation

  1. Scientific abstracts should communicate the findings of qualitative or quantitative research studies or good quality audits. Submissions judged by the scientific committee as meeting a quality threshold will be included in the programme as either oral or poster presentations and will be eligible for inclusion in the Journal of Foot and Ankle Research.

  2. The case history category is to encourage active and thoughtful clinicians to share unusual or interesting cases with colleagues, with the intention of providing novel information and stimulating debate. The case history should follow a structure (background, presentation, investigations, treatment, and conclusions) but the emphasis is on sharing interesting clinical information rather than imparting new knowledge though research.

  3. General interest submissions covers those which do not constitute formal research but would be of interest to the practice, service organisation or personal development of clinical podiatrists. These abstracts can be more flexible in structure and content.

  4. Innovations in practice posters. In addition to scientific research abstracts, the College is encouraging practitioners from private and independent practice to tell delegates about the good things they are doing in clinic through a poster presentation.  This could cover relevant practice areas such as assessment, diagnosis, business management, treatment and may include patient case studies.  Innovations in practice abstracts should include:

  • Introduction (context of practice)

  • Innovation (novel or innovative practice being reported)

  • Impact (relevance to podiatry and impact on service/patient)

Submissions are welcome from podiatrists of all levels. Awards will be given for the best oral presentation, best scientific poster and for the best innovations in practice poster.
