It’s your AGM and your vote!

Update on our AGM on 30th June and how you can take part

As you may have heard, there’s a critical vote coming up about the name of our organisation at the forthcoming annual general meeting (AGM) on June 30th in central London.

In 2016 Council agreed to join our two organisations, the Society and the College together. Now it is proposed that we formally adopt just one name and, as set out in our constitution, this can only happen if enough members vote for the proposal at the AGM.

We face really important challenges in the months and years ahead to ensure our voice is heard in key debates on patient health, regulation and the future of our profession. We have an ambitious strategy, based on what members tell us are the right priorities for our future. To deliver this strategy we need to build a strong, forward-looking organisation with a clear and focused message, name and brand.

The name proposed by Council is:

The College of Podiatry

Representing chiropodists and podiatrists across the UK

Please support this crucial change and help us build a bright future for podiatry.

Consulting with members

Council and the Executive team have been out and about meeting members at conferences, branch, reps meetings and other events across the UK and almost 1,300 members took part in our online consultation exercise during March and April. Many more members have accessed our Q&A and other information on the background and journey to this proposal. Read more about it here

Members have asked questions at events, via the consultation or by e-mailing our CEO Steve Jamieson at feedback@scpod.org – so we are regularly updating our Q&A section with new questions and answers as these come in - so please keep visiting. If you have any questions not answered at present by the Q&A you can email them to CEO Steve Jamieson at feedback@scpod.org.
