Making a difference to the lives of Podiatry patients
Podiatry is a degree based health care profession and Podiatrists work in a variety of specialisms in health and social care. Podiatry is the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of diseases and other disorders of the feet. Podiatrists are highly skilled health care professionals who have been trained to prevent, diagnose, treat and rehabilitate abnormal conditions of the feet and lower limbs. They also prevent and correct deformity, keep people mobile and active, relieve pain and treat infections. Podiatry’s input has long been recognised to reduce amputation rates in patients with high risk factors for foot ulceration.
Podiatric Surgery is a specialised field of practice within the Podiatry profession. Podiatric Surgeons are Podiatrists who have had extensive post-graduate training in the surgical management of foot and ankle problems.
This booklet illustrates patients’ and other’s stories associated with their clinical care.
